Whisky is a British institution and one that should be safe guarded for the future. It is part of the image, not only of Scotland but also Ireland and Wales. It brings tourism to our fine country and most importantly it tastes great.
Yet despite all of this we are forced to pay a heavy duty (roughly £12 per bottle) to enjoy and support this industry.
With manufacturing in decline and more foreign countries producing and laying claim to this beverage NOW is the time to support whisky and abolish the duty.
