During the Falklands War the RN couldn't clear the maritime zone of Argentine submarines and indeed, the ARA still has several subs. Even worse, the Russians have just announced they will build 50 nuclear-powered submarines even though they already have 30. This neccessitates installing towed-array sonars aboard all T23 frigates and development of a new ASW helo type.
