We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to require that the Attorney General be relieved of his duties in respect of the case passed to the Crown Prosecution Service on Friday 20 April 2007 following the Metropolitan Police's investigation into alleged breaches of the Honours (Prevention Of Abuses Act) 1925. More details from petition creator

The Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith has numerous conflicts of interest in respect of this case, for example;

1. He was appointed by the prime minister, who has been questioned during this police investigation.

2. He has donated to the Labour Party. The case passed to the CPS may have significant financial ramifications on that organisation.

3. The case passed to the CPS relates to entrance to The House Of Lords of which he is a member.

4. The prime minister appointed Lord Goldsmith as a Labour life peer in 1999.

In respect of this case, another legal expert should be appointed who is not actually or potentially conflicted in respect of the case that is being considered. Justice must be done and be seen to be done.
