The Department for Education and Skills does not currently provide advice to Local Education Authorities on what biometric technologies are appropriate in school buildings. No central records are held on the type or use of the technologies. We think that the DFES should investigate the proliferation of biometric technologies to ensure that the civil liberties of our children continue to be protected.
